SPC

SPC is a non-denominational group of seekers rooted in the Christian tradition who support one another in worship, reflection, and spiritual growth. SPC strives to create a safe space where questions are welcome and individual differences in faith are respected. It is associated with the Protestant Campus Minister (the lovely Joyce Thompkins) and supported by an alliance of area churches called Partners in Ministry.

The Name Thing:
SPC originally stood for ‘Swarthmore Protestant Community’ or ‘Swarthmore Protestant Christians’. Since we welcome everyone (and the Protestants lost the majority), the acronym evolved to ‘Swarthmore Progressive Christians’. We’re trying to phase this out as well - the group contains members of many Christian denominations and several non-Christians - so we’re switching the words again. So what does SPC stand for now? Nothing - we’re just SPC!
