We meet every Sunday at 4:00 pm in Bond Hall in the Common Worship Room. We have singing, prayer, and discussion, and afterward we eat dinner together in Sharples. We visit area churches as a group once or twice a month. See the Partners in Ministry page for a list of local churches and their Sunday schedules. Feel free to come any time- we're always happy to see new faces!
Spring 2000 Meeting in the Common Worship Room
This is very important.
Led by one of the stewards.
We take song requests for about the first half-hour of meeting. Occasionally, Pauline or someone else will accompany us on the guitar or another instrument.
The stewards update the group on coming events and anything else going on that the group is involved in.
At the beginning of each semester, students sign up to present a discussion topic or question on an upcoming Sunday. Topics range from the scrupulously-planned to the spur-of-the-moment. Sometimes we discuss Bible passages, comparing different versions (thanks to our eclectic collection of Bibles). Other times, the discussion leader simply poses a question that he or she has been thinking about and people share their insights into it. Once in a while, we have outside speakers come to present a program: for example, last semester we had a massage workshop led by Joseph Eagle.
Before we pray together silently, people have the opportunity to share joys or concerns with the group so that we can all hold them in our thoughts.
One of the stewards leads a focus prayer, and then we sit in silence for five or 10 minutes. To close, we join hands and pray together the Lord's Prayer.
We sing this three times through to end the meeting.
Each week after worship, we eat together in the dining hall at 6:00. Even if you can't make it to meeting at 4:00, please join us in Room 4 at 6:00!
