Local Churches


There are number of churches that you can attend. Some churches are located on campus if you are not interested in making the trek. There are churches that are primarily one culture if you are more comfortable in that setting. Otherwise, check them out for yourself and decide which if right for you. Here are a couple of churches SCFers have attended/ are currently attending.

Blue Route Vineyard
is a nearby non-denominational church with a large collage-age population, predominately Caucasian but seeking to diversify. The service is primarily musical worship and an engaging, biblically-based sermon.

Catholic Mass at Swarthmore
is conveniently located right on campus, Sundays (10 am) and Wednesdays (12:30pm) in Bond Hall. Father Ed, the Catholic student advisor, delivers relevant and intelligent sermons aimed at Swarthmore students.

Swarthmore Presbyterian Church
is located right next to the Palmer/Pittenger/Roberts dorms on Harvard Ave. Its congregation is fairly large with many families, and sermons are Bible-based.

Trinity Episcopalian Church
s a traditional church located right off campus on the corner of Chester and College. Its congregation is drawn from the Swarthmore community, including lots of families.

Renewal Presbyterian Church
is located in West Philly, and is largely attended by young Asian-Americans although it embraces all ethnicities. The services are contemporary with musical worship and a sermon.

Swarthmore United Methodist Church
is located in the Swarthmore Ville next to the Swarthmore Public Library on Park Ave. Its congregation has members of different ages, single adults, and families.

Grace Covenant Church
is located on the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Its congregation is made up of mostly college students and young adults from nearby campuses.
