Welcome to the Student Budget Committee

Decisions regarding funding for nearly all student groups at Swarthmore College are decided upon by the Student Budget Committee. The SBC is a group of eight students appointed by the Swarthmore Student Council. The SBC allocates the money reserved for Student Activities to various groups across the campus. This money comes from the Student Activities Fee that all students pay as part of their yearly tuition at Swarthmore.

Additionally, the SBC employs the Budget Office Staff, a group run by the SBC Manager and three SBC Assistant Managers. The Budget Office Staff act as a liaison between the SBC and those groups that receive funding. While the Budget Office does not make decisions regarding the allottment of Student Activities money, they oversee the dispensation of money that the SBC has allocated to various groups and facilitate the use of this money by those groups.

Each week, the SBC meets to discuss the funding of groups on campus. Minutes from these meetings can be viewed or downloaded on the minutes page.
