Parents and students began the day together with a presentation on robotics by Swarthmore computer science professor Lisa Meeden. The crowd especially loved the demonstration of the Ibo robotic dogs, who played with a ball, danced and loved to be petted. |
Parent Workshop
Parents and teachers spent the morning in a workshop of their own! First, Swarthmore physics professor Catherine Crouch led a mini workshop on waves for the parents, similar to the hands-on workshops their daughters and students would be attending throughout the day. Afterwards, there was a lively discussion on encouraging young women studying mathematics and the sciences. |

Learning Science
The workshops later in the day were a resounding success. You can find pictures from last year's conference on this page.
