InvitationAPDA Nationals 2004 @ Swarthmore College We welcome all qualified APDA schools and debaters to the APDA National Championships at Swarthmore College on April 9-11, 2004. What you get
Adjudication There will be an n-1 judging rule. We realize that many schools may not be able to send judges for financial reasons; please let us know if that’s the case or if you have any other concerns. All judges will be required to go through some sort of adjudicator’s test a la Worlds. This will likely take the form of an online calibration round accompanied by a questionnaire. Dinos who do not participate will not be subsidized. More on information on this policy will be posted shortly. We’re going to provide free registration to 20 dinos. For dinos in excess of 20, the registration fee will be $125. The sign-up process is going to be a little different from the usual first-come, first-serve basis. If there’s a chance that you can find funding from another source (perhaps your alma mater) or yourself, we ask that you help us in lowering our costs and providing subsidies to those who need it the most. If, however, our providing free registration makes a difference in whether or not you are able to come, then by all means sign up. We won’t be auditing you or anything like that; use your own judgment. Dinos should register at swatnats2004@fastmail.fm. Tab and Judging policies are available at http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/org/debate/nationals/. Housing The official tournament hotel is the three-star Philadelphia Airport Renaissance. The registration fees for teams and non-dino judges include quad occupancy rooms (two double beds) at the hotel. Dinos will receive double occupancy rooms. Singles are available at an additional $120 per room (an additional $80 if you’re sharing the room with somebody who’s also paying a registration fee). Pre-Registration Registration must be submitted by March 15, 2004 to swatnats2004@fastmail.fm. Dinos should also send intents to come or requests for subsidies to the above email address. Teams qualifying on PC/UVA, Yale, and Chicago/Clark/Rutgers weekends must submit their registration information on the Sunday after the tournament. All other changes after March 15 are subject to a $10 fine. When registering, please include the following information: teams, names, seeds, any food preferences/restrictions, religious needs, and contact and billing information. Better yet, use the registration form that is provided on the website. Payment Info All teams must be paid in full by the day of Nationals to compete. The only exception is granted to those who qualify in the two weekends before Nationals. Changes made after the registration date are also subject to a $10 fine (with the same exception as above). Payment can be made by cash/check/money order at the tournament or check/money order made to "Peaslee Debate Society" and sent to:
